I believe the ancient ‘Lost’ City of Atlantis is found centerpoint to São Miguel and Santa Maria islands in the North Atlantic Ocean and East of the Mid-Atlantic Rift. Also, these islands (and what looks completely like a volcanic underwater shelf) lie just North West but practically on top of a giant rift in the seabed known as the East Azores Fracture Zone. This matched with a volcanic eruption would make responsible the Atlantis city to be lost in tidal catastrophe not to mention ‘massive crust upheaval. If you look at this fractured underwater floor surrounding these islands it does look like the South East arc of the ring has fallen away to the rift below it. Modern Culture, I give you remnants of the ‘Lost’ City of Atlantis.. .start swimming, diving & digging!

Atlantis (in Greek, Ἀτλαντὶς νῆσος, “island of Atlas”) is a legendary island first mentioned in Plato’s dialogues Timaeus and Critias.

In Plato’s account, Atlantis was a naval power lying “in front of the Pillars of Hercules” that conquered many parts of Western Europe and Africa 9,000 years before the time of Solon, or approximately 9600 BC. After a failed attempt to invade Athens, Atlantis sank into the ocean “in a single day and night of misfortune”.

Scholars dispute whether and how much Plato’s story or account was inspired by older traditions. Some scholars argue Plato drew upon memories of past events such as the Thera eruption or the Trojan War, while others insist that he took inspiration from contemporary events like the destruction of Helike in 373 BC[1] or the failed Athenian invasion of Sicily in 415413 BC.
