Half Moon, Quarter the Space

Being on the Half Moon (Halve Maen replica) on the Hudson River brings to mind the striking comparison of the International Space Station ..

or any ‘space’ ship for that matter ..

There is a limited amount of ‘cubic’ inner-space to any vessel.

As in Henry Hudson’s time, ships require reliable energy and navigation, safety and security, repairs (if necessary), supplies and a crew able to share and survive on bare minimums.

Everyone has scheduled duties to accomplish .. some physical, some mental.

Like sailor to astronaut .. crews must survive difficult conditions aboard the ship ..all the while the ship is surrounded by a harsh and sometimes deadly environment.

It is good to remember these lessons of the sea-faring age as we are about to embark on the coming space-faring age.

Enjoy a tour aboard the Half Moon replica! 🙂
